DRUNK HISTORY: SEASON 4 REVIEWED
“Drunk History” had a rather wonderful fourth season. I’ve watched the show since its Funny or Die origins and I have to say that it’s a 50/50 setup. That being said, the majority of the episodes in 2016 were rather great. A lot of that had to do with attracting A-list talent and getting a shot in the arm via Lin-Manuel Miranda. That’s a lot of value in nearly 4 hours of listening to drunk people remember deep history cuts.
After finishing the season, I was left wondering something. If “Workaholics” and “Review” are coming to an end this year, then how can Comedy Central keep stretching out “Drunk History”? I get the neoliberal appeal of doing season about all of the many screw-ups of Republicans and other fundamentalists. It’s just that you will hit a wall where the content doesn’t match the quality. But, these are the kinds I think about when others are just watching Michael Cera pretend to be Andrew Jackson. Honestly, the 12 year old history nerd me of the past would time travel to the present and punch me over this.
