Dracula: Prince of Darkness is one of the better Hammer Dracula movies. But, it was also one of the most rushed productions and at times shows those wounds. Christopher Lee refused to dialogue and spent most of the film hissing. The majority of the cast were left overs from the underrated Rasputin the Mad Monk. Plus, the film plays under 90 minutes. Why is it good again?
Well, that’s because it’s the most straightforward Dracula movie ever made. A random town is still panicked about Dracula returning, then some tourists get tricked into feeding him. People get turned, staked and then thrown to Dracula’s mercy. Plus, Dracula rips open his shirt and tries to get a chick to breast feed from him. While it was only Christopher Lee’s second outing as the Lord of Vampires, it might still remain my favorite outing.
