DON’T KNOCK TWICE

DON’T KNOCK TWICE REVIEWED

“Don’t Knock Twice” is about Baba Yaga isn’t it? For new readers, this is where you go and Wiki Baba Yaga rather than having me explain global folklore. The film feels like another step in the long line of recent horror that began with “Insidious” and “Sinister”. Throw in your former drunk/addict/washed-up mother figure who is trying to work her way back to normal. Tack on a rather hot young lead who gets to connect Point A to Point B. Then, add a slightly trusting police officer to sort it out.

This is the kind of winter horror film that exists to remind people that months exist that aren’t October. While the film lives and dies by atmosphere, there’s not much in terms of true terror. If you can swing that vibe, it’ll work for you. If you’re like me, you’ll be looking for something far more interesting.
