WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH REVIEWED
“When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth” is finally on Blu. Plus, it’s the International cut! That means Hammer Films quality nudity for the younger readers. For the parents reading the site, take this as a tip of the hat. For a film adapted from a J.G. Ballard story and featuring lovely stop motion, it’s far more entertaining than “High Rise”. What it doesn’t have is much of a constant pace. Women run around half-naked and eventually make their way to other tribes.
All of the tribes function the same way, but they get to fight stop motion dinosaurs at all turns. The aspect of sacrificing women to vengeful dinosaurs kinda disappears in the third act, but it doesn’t matter. This is pulp goodness designed to appeal to that visceral aesthetic that keeps young men forever spitting in the face of the Bechdel Test. If you have a problem with that, then ask Warren Beatty to explain why you’re wrong. That’s about as much topical humor as you’re going to get here. If you want to see cavewoman boobs and cool dinosaurs, then this is for you.
