CPO Sharkey deserved more than its two seasons.
“CPO Sharkey” is a dramedy that lasted for about two seasons and nothing ever came together. It’s a late era Norman Lear rip-off and Rickles works his ass off to make it work. What sucks is the fact that nothing ever comes together for him. The supporting cast never can match his intensity and they seem to be a little too starstruck.
The Best of Season 1 throws together the best six episodes that showcase Rickles’ natural timing. Whether it’s the Tijuana getaway or Sharkey learning to boogie, it’s all good. If you’re a Rickles fan, you probably have the complete set. For everyone else, I’d recommend a rental.
