CLEVELAND ABDUCTION, based on the horrifying true story of a group of women who were kidnapped and held captive by Ariel Castro for 11 years, debuts August 11 on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film features Taryn Manning (TV’s “Orange is the New Black”), Raymond Cruz (TV’s “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”), Golden Globe® nominee Pam Grier (Best Actress in a Comedy / Musical, Jackie Brown, 1997; TV’s “The Real L Word”), and Emmy® award winner Joe Morton (Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, TV’s “Scandal”, 2014).
CLEVELAND ABDUCTION is the horrific story of Michelle Knight (Manning) who was abducted, along with two teenagers, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, and confined for more than 11 years in the home of their captor Ariel Castro (Cruz). In spite of the countless acts of brutality they endured, the imprisoned victims’ spirits could not be broken.
CLEVELAND ABDUCTION is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers are Judith Verno (TV’s “Masters of Sex”) and Frank von Zerneck (TV’s “Justice for Natalee Holloway”). David A. Rosemont (TV’s “Bonnie & Clyde”) produces. The film is from a teleplay by Stephen Tolkin (TV’s “Brothers & Sisters) based on the book “Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed: A Memoir of the Cleveland Kidnappings” by Michelle Knight and directed by Alex Kalymnios (TV’s “Becoming Human”).
