THE PLOT THUS FAR
An alienated teenage boy runs away from home and ventures to New York City where he falls in with a gang of juvenile delinquents working as drug dealers and pickpockets for a shady crime boss.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“The Children of Times Square” is an amazing junk TV movie from the mid 1980s. There’s something magical about when network television tried to get hard hitting and then produced shit like this. The gay nerd from Revenge of the Nerds and the black guy from Ragtime show up to try and lead our white hero back home. But, everybody’s too busy slinging rock to go back to the suburbs. Curtis Hanson directs roughly a decade before his first Oscar nom. For people that thought “Lucky You” was a one time flub…check this shit out.
The DVD comes with no special features. But, the A/V Quality is pretty strong for an older drama flick. There are deep blacks and amazing field of depth. However, it’s still standard definition and supported by a thin Dolby track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to classic TV movie fans.
