A classic is reclassified in this remake of the Emmy Award-winning 1971 four-hanky weepie, Brian’s Song. Based on the legendary rivalry/friendship of Chicago Bears running backs Brian Piccolo (Sean Maher) and Gale Sayers (Mekhi Phifer), Brian’s Song packs a tremendous wallop, especially in the latter half when Piccolo is stricken with terminal cancer. In this version, the players’ wives get more face time, adding immeasurably to the drama.
