“The Bold Ones: The Senator” is an insanely progressive show that must’ve played like New Wave cinema when it hit the TV screens of 1970-1971. A young political family moves to Washington and tries to fight for dominance among the machine. Hal Holbrook was coming off that sweet Mark Twain heat, as he is acting like a beast in this show. Holbrook would win an Emmy for the performance and it was deserved. Seriously, I love it when classic TV like this surprises me. The DVD comes with a new interview with Hal Holbrook, a classic Holbrook appearance from The Dick Cave Show and a Holbrook anti-drug PSA as the special features. The A/V Quality is typical for a show of its age.
