BELLS ARE RINGING REVIEWED
“Bells Are Ringing” was one of the latest great MGM musicals. Holliday works as an answering service gal that wants to help her clients. When she meets Dean Martin, she realizes that love is far more complicated than a phone call. Those in a few great songs and you’ve got a classic charming romantic comedy. So, why is it great?
Martin and Holliday provide for an underrated pairing. While Holliday plays more a comedienne, she’s able to get Martin to match her timing. Jokes fly, famous faces dot in and out of the story and Martin gets to Rat Park charm it up. While I tend to follow most of MGM’s later films, this was one that always snuck past me. Don’t let that happen to you! Pick it up!
