Anchor Bay Brings Sour Party to Blu-ray and DVD on June 10

Anchor Bay Entertainment has set a June 10, 2025 release date for Sour Party, the debut feature film from co-writers/directors/producers Amanda Drexton and Michael A. Drexton. The film will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD, with pre-orders now live.

What’s Sour Party About?

Gwen (Samantha Westervelt) and James (Amanda Drexton) are two thirty-something friends spinning their wheels. No jobs, no drive, no accountability. After yet another failed scheme to make cash, Gwen gets a call from her very pregnant sister reminding her about an upcoming baby shower—and nudging her to buy something from the registry.

Trying to prove she’s not a complete screw-up, Gwen enlists James to help find the cash to buy a pricey baby gift. Their plan? Roam around Los Angeles and collect on long-dead IOUs from a group of their so-called “artsy” friends.

What unfolds is part road movie, part comedic therapy session, as the pair encounter ex-bandmates, jaded creatives, deadbeat romantics, and each other’s festering baggage. Sour Party is a film about friendship, arrested development, and whether adulthood is just a more expensive version of adolescence.

Final Word

Sour Party is an emotionally honest buddy comedy that finds something fresh in the post-millennial burnout genre. Think Frances Ha by way of Broad City, but with way worse financial planning. It’s about that one last messy hangout before you finally admit life has started without you.

Releases June 10 via Anchor Bay Entertainment.
