This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world. Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a dark and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted. Winner: Best Picture (Horror), Best Screenplay (Horror), Best Director (Horror) at Fantastic Fest, and recipient of awards of recognition from the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. AFFLICTED is one of the most suspenseful and original action horror debuts in a generation.

“Afflicted” played the festival circuit for awhile before the general audiences finally got their taste on home video. Derek and his best pal are traveling around and recording everything in a video diary. The trip is a last ditch Bucket List effort for Derek, as he is ever so close to kicking the bucket. That is until a mysterious affliction starts to give him powers. Is everything what it seems or is there something far more sinister going on? Cronenberg wept.

Venereal disease always play a big role in body horror. After all, what is vampirism but the ultimate sexually transmitted is disease? Everything wrong about it passes through sensual contact and a sense of intimacy unmatched by anything else in horror. Clif Prowse and Derek Lee have stumbled on something amazing here and I hope it connects to a larger audience on home video. This guys give you reason to believe that real horror is far from dead.

The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes and deleted scenes as the special features. The A/V Quality is amazing for a low budget horror movie. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track sports dynamic range. You also get a truly robust 1080p transfer. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
