ADVENTURE TIME: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON

“Adventure Time” enters into an epic fifth season. You get the introduction of Marshall Lee into the fan-fiction universe. There’s the brief trip to Farm World after the Lich warped reality. If that wasn’t enough, you get one of the greatest Adventure Time episodes ever created with “Marcy and Simon”. I promise that it will change the way you hear the Cheers theme from this point on. While it was strange to have a 52 episode long season, I hope that the creative team tries it again in the future.

The fifth season was huge and so much of the material makes people think it happened in different years. Hell, I forgot that Farm World was a part of this season until I revisited it on the disc. “A Glitch is a Glitch” still stands out to me, as the weird computer graphics have now started to add more to the program. The rest of the material is pretty good for the series.

Then, there is “Lemonhope”. Both parts of the short showcase Lemonhope, the young prisoner brought to life by Lemongrab. Lemongrab tortures the young boy and he’s eventually freed by Princess Bubblegum. The Princess tries to educate him and set him free, but she can’t help. That’s when the series follows Lemonhope over 1,000 years as he frees his people and comes to terms with who he is as a person. You won’t see that on “Family Guy”.

The Blu-Ray comes with a featurette, animatic clips and a special snail hunt as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning just like the last few releases. The 1080p transfer is stunning. The Dolby 2.0 surround track is lossy, but it’s what gets played on the HD broadcast. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
