WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR REVIEWED RATHER FAST

“Won’t You Be My Neighbor” is America’s highest grossing biographic documentary ever. While that’s digging deep into the financial record well, it allows me to break away from where so many have gone. Most Americans and folks in the nearby regions have a passing familiarity with Fred Rogers. His groundbreaking PBS series was imported, recut and shared across different mediums for decades. So, why is everyone getting all emotional now?

The modern destruction of community has created a loss of shared touchstones. When one gets to reappear for a self-centered society, they aren’t emotionally trained how to handle it. They want to share the experience, but they also want to be the ones that discover it. How does a viewer discover something that was shared with generations before them? Well, the answer should be apparent. They tie emotional weight to it.

The scores of reviews about people getting the feels and how they filter the documentary through what Mister Rogers means to me feels incredibly odd. Well, odd for a documentary about a man that spent his life teaching emotional maturity to children that would later become attention starved adults drenched in real world flop sweat by the slightest challenge. I can’t wait for this release to hit home video, as I want to hear a commentary in the worst way. There is so much going on in this documentary, that a lot of the examinations have to had been on purpose.

If that sounds like your sort of thing, I’d hurry to the arthouse theater before it’s gone.
