DAUGHTER OF THE NILE

DAUGHTER OF THE NILE REVIEWED

“Daughter of the Nile” is an angst ridden teen drama. While the shots almost resemble a Taiwanese cinema version of We Didn’t Start the Fire, the material holds up. Still, the film goes out of its way to try to exist as grief porn. If you look past the sadness for a story of a young girl coming of age, it’s pretty solid. Otherwise, it starts dipping into that movie void that hammered Asian Indie Cinema during the early 90s. Not everything has to be an issue, but there needs to be a story.
