EXTRAORDINARY MISSION

EXTRAORDINARY MISSION REVIEWED

“Extraordinary Mission” plays like a mid 70s cops vs. drugs movie. So much of modern Asian cinema seems to have a boner for updating films from the 1974-1978 era. But, there’s a reason why it doesn’t work. Those original films built upon a society’s lack of understanding about drugs. You could make up anything and make cops go dark to create drama. It’s fun for a few years, then it plays awfully cliche.

I guess the lead in this film becoming an addict is novel. Honestly, I don’t know how often that gets used in Asian cinema. Nothing new takes place here, but it’s something to put on for some World Cinema violence. If that works for you, then pick it up.
