UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, THE

THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN REVIEWED

“The Unsinkable Molly Brown” is a great musical about a woman that should stay out of the water. Molly began life as a Colorado Hillbilly foundling. From there, she met her husband and toured the world and Europe. In the old-fashioned sense, Europe is considered a cultural highpoint until it became full of EDM and trash people. Most people that know of Brown know her from the Titanic. Honestly, she’s far more accurately portrayed here than the Kathy Bates version from “Titanic”. There’s a lot of the musical that people love slamming, but it’s pretty rooted in fact.

Brown was considered to be a poor oddity to Denver society, but her husband kept her in finery and opportunities to impress. It didn’t hurt that the couple benefited from a gold strike that made them wealthy. While the music doesn’t match Willson’s previous success with The Music Man, it’s still fiery and strong. Debbie Reynolds remains one of the greatest musical actresses in American History. I’d recommend picking up this release and taking a look at why Debbie Reynolds mattered for so long.
