DON VERDEAN REVIEWED
“Don Verdean” is the latest from the Hess team and I enjoyed it. That being said, I hope that one day they can break out of the Coen Brothers lite aesthetic that they’ve been mining since “Napoleon Dynamite”. Sam Rockwell and Will Forte are great as rival religious interests demanding that religious artifacts start making their way back to America. Seemingly taking place in a slightly more modern Dynamite style world, we get to see adults act like the slightly grown up teens we saw in that aforementioned film. The humor is there and quite a few jokes are set up. It’s just that I wonder if the schtick is wearing thin.
