William Alexander Morgan was the American hero that the Cuban Revolution needed.
“American Comandante” shows that Castro was willing to turn on anyone in his Revolution. William Morgan was willing to cash in and become an American celebrity during the Cuban Revolution. While not always the best of guys, Morgan was willing to help Castro and Che take Cuba back for the people. Unfortunately, Morgan would be executed two years later by Castro. Morgan was one of the first members of the Revolution to see through Castro’s lies and realize that the man didn’t want a parliamentary democracy in Cuba. For that, Morgan was killed and thus began a 50 year journey to retrieve his body for burial in America. The DVD comes with no special features.
