“The Walking Dead” enters its fifth season on a train car of despair. From there, it delves into a mix of TV fanboy service and snippets of some of the worst parts of the comic. While Season 4 played it far too light, Season 5 wants to live in the characters’ heads. We get “Terminus” and Washington in this season, so comic fans should have an idea what to expect. But, add in more talky and less brain munching to pad it out. But, the girls get to look at Dixon.
Robert Kirkman should be proud of the behemoth that the series has become over the last five years. It’s equal parts triumph and Hollywood horror story as the original text has been so manipulated into creating a prime time soap opera. I appreciate zombies reaching new levels of public acceptance, but there’s such nothing going on for extended periods of time. Why do I watch the show for a full season when there is maybe 2 hours worth of combined quality content? Life is frustrating.
The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, commentaries and deleted scenes as the special features. The A/V Quality is on par with the last few releases. The 1080p transfer plays dark, but it plays well. The Dolby TrueHD 7.1 master audio track is the best TV on Blu audio track in 2015. The range is sick and blows away most films that I saw this year. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
