OF GIRLS AND HORSES

Alex is a teenage misfit whose parents won’t accept that she’s a lesbian. Alex is eventually sent away to learn how to ride and find straight activities at a horse riding facility. That is until she meets a slightly older lady that wants to teach her how to ride. Hold back the filthy jokes, readers. This is actually a loving relationship drama.

The whole relationship with Nina plays odd, but I guess the LGBTQ angle is supposed to make us look the other way. I wouldn’t say that Nina is way older than Alex, but the authority in her position makes the relationship slightly questionable. The longing for love is real, but one might suspect that Nina is overstepping her role. While it’s not like she’s her boss, there’s still something creepy to it. But, it’s loving. Lovingly creepy.

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is typical for foreign indie dramas. The standard definition transfer is clear without anything being that impressive. The Dolby Surround track really pops for being dialogue heavy. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
