Saturday Night Live: The Early Years is a collection of 33 episodes across the first 5 years of SNL. While Peacock might have all the episodes available to watch however you want to check them out, this is a set meant for the casual older viewers.
The special features are rather robust, highlighting what it was like to work on the show during those early years. But, I feel like a lot of this was carry over from the older Universal DVDs made for those first five seasons.
The booklet was nice, but Saturday Night Live needs a little extra push to make a home video release matter. An HD upgrade might look odd considering the original elements of the show. Some parts were on film, while others were on video. At least, Time Life limited how much of those awful Muppets are seen on the first disc.

Dolly: The Ultimate Collection is a massive release comparable to the Time Life Robin William sets from over a year ago. Four massive DVDs bundled together in a slick box that mirrors the various aspects of Dolly Parton’s career. You get the variety shows, TV talk show spots, early career stuff with Porter W and more.
Time Life kills it with these sets. But, they are super designed for older viewers. Most of this material can be easily hunted down on YouTube. It’s just that we all know that special fan in our lives that isn’t so good with the Internet or keeping up with tech. These DVDs can pique their interest and give them something to watch during the chilly COVID months to come.
