WICHITA

WICHITA REVIEWED

“Wichita” follows a hard working guy’s efforts to keep his teammates on task. But, he does this with hidden cameras and blackmail. I think Jack Welch said that was cool, but the film keeps saying that this is bad. Eventually, this costs our lead his job. So, what’s a poor guy from Grizzly Park to do? He visits his mother for permission to go nuts. What do you know? His Ma obliges him.

From there, it’s a pretty solid horror flick about an overworked maniac with voyeuristic talents. It’s pretty funny when you consider that a failing kids’ show spawned all of the hi-jinks in this film. Can you really call the proceedings something resembling “hi-jinks”? The early half of the film is a little stilted and doesn’t quite hang together in terms of tension. But, the film’s last half decides to kick things into gear. Better late than never.

While I hate films that can’t find their tempo, I’m never quite sure where to hang movies that eventually get it right. I can’t call the film perfect, but it gets enough right to be enjoyable. Give it a shot.
