VLOG

THE PLOT THUS FAR
Millions watched in horror as popular and sexy ‘vlogger’ Brooke Marks was murdered on camera during one of her live webcasts. Her body was never found. But what happened in the weeks before might be the most depraved crimes of all.

These are the days and nights leading up to Brooke’s brutal death: Her casual hook-ups with various guys. Her cruel put-downs of other women. And the faceless cyber-stalker who forces Brooke to watch as those closest to her are systematically tortured, slaughtered and defiled. Experience the feature film version of the online sensation that shocked the world. It is graphic. It is extreme. It is a merciless wake-up call for the viral video generation. This is VLOG.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

So, the guys that made “Saw” decided to make a half-hearted fake snuff film. Most of the marketing materials describes it as the first feature film produced for the Internet. While I’m all for e-world dominating the real world, it just seems a little cheap. Especially, when you have C-rate actors trying to sell a film that should amp up the sex/violence a little more.

Everything that’s wrong with American horror is on display in this movie. The nobody cast overprojects and hams each scene like an extra at an outdoor horror amusement. Nobody seems to be on the same page, as they stumble through the action like a drunk. Add onto that, the general malaise that the film generates through its clocky editing.

The DVD comes with bonus vlogs as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is weaksauce, as the transfer is muddy to the point of being a VHS tape recovered from a warehouse fire. The Dolby Surround track is strong enough, but even that pales when compared to contemporary horror releases. If you’re a Saw fan, skip this. Hell, if you have eyes…skip this. Sorry, blind people.
