THE PLOT THUS FAR
In this popular series, handsome, fun loving, private eye, Dan Tanna, drives around Las Vegas in his vintage Thunderbird solving private cases but is also on retainer to a wealthy casino owner to keep crime out of his hotels. He is helped by his smart and sexy assistant and his enthusiastic, yet inept, legman.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
This had to be one of the coolest shows on television. The thing that really made it great was the pacing of the show and its mix of the old Las Vegas and what Vegas was becoming. The other thing that made this show what it was were the numerous cameos of some of the brightest stars that would appear in Vegas on a regular basis.
However, the final episodes of this series were nothing to remember. Sure, Robert Urich was keeping his pace up, but the show sucked at this point. It was a lazy cop show by way of a walking advertisement for Las Vegas. The Thunderbird stole most of the limelight and that’s sad. The car didn’t even talk. We just had network TV pimps, loose showgirls and tired old celebs dotting the background.
The DVD comes with episodic promos as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is strong enough for standard definition. However, the thin Dolby track has no back channel support. There is frequently digital noise, but it’s not major. In the end, it’s worth a purchase to fans of the show.
