URGENCY

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Someone’s out to get Tony West (Brian Austin Green). They’ve abducted his wife for a ransom of 50 grand, and Tony only has 90 minutes to make the drop. As he races to meet the demand, he discovers that the kidnappers might really be after him. Tony has something they want, information that they will kill to get, and the clock is ticking in his quest to save his wife … and himself.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Brian Austin Green is a pharmaceutical rep who just had to deal with his wife getting kidnapped. Now, he’s feeling the pressure as he has to raise the funds to free her. This is the kind of stuff that used to play on HBO late at night, after Real Sex went off. It’s one of those movies that used to be the marker to turn off your television. Now, they want you to buy it on DVD.

“Urgency” is a hard film to remember, but I don’t expect you to dwell on it. The chases are ok, while Brian Austin Green manages to read the lines without sounding like an Ed Wood extra. But, is it good? No. It’s another tax shelter of a film setup to exist to fill what used to be the bottom rung at Blockbuster. Avoid it.

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is strong enough, but it’s not going to set your home theater on fire. There might be a few trailers on the disc that would make you happy. But, it’s mostly for B-grade schlock like this. Rent it, if you’re curious.
