TERMINATOR: GENISYS (4K UHD)

TERMINATOR: GENISYS 4K REVIEWED

“Terminator: Genisys” arrives on 4K, but it’s upscaled. While that won’t make a lick of difference to the average person, it will become apparent over time. I’m noticing that it’s becoming a recurring problem with a ton of recent releases. If the master is not at 4K or the FX aren’t cut in 4K, then the presentation won’t look so hot on home video. I don’t get what the hang-up is or why the studios don’t invest in remasters before quick releases to home video. Oh well, onto the film.

2015 was a weird year. Star Wars got good again, smarter films got released and for some reason it was warranted that one more stab at the Terminator mythos was required. Now, the timeline was being smashed with hammer in order to get Arnie back for another outing. Terminators can age due to their surface skin being organic. Now, he gets to revisit his previous hits with new FX and attempt to rebrand the future dystopia.

It’s a shame as Jason Clarke really delves into this new idea of John Connor. Nothing else in the film supports his enthusiasm. Emilia Clarke continues her streak of looking lost in every role she lands, but she’s got the fanboys firmly on the Khaleesi wagon. If you can piece something together you like out of that, then have fun.
