South Park Digital Studios LLC, the joint venture between “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and COMEDY CENTRAL, a division of MTVN Entertainment Group, a unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), announced today that southparkstudios.com will premiere the rarely-seen, original hand-made “South Park” pilot created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The original pilot, which is the basis for the Emmy and Peabody Award winning series’ premiere episode “Cartman Gets An Anal Probe,” contains four minutes of additional footage that never made it to air when the episode debuted in 1997. This pilot was created entirely by hand on construction paper and was animated primarily by Stone and Parker. Southparkstudios.com will feature the pilot on an ad-supported basis for a limited period of 30 days at www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/pilot.
In addition to watching the original pilot, fans looking for new “South Park” material ahead of the October 7 mid-season premiere can watch commentary about it from “South Park” crew producer Eric Stough and South Park Studios creative director Chris Brion on southparkstudios.com.
Southparkstudios.com offers fans the ultimate “South Park” digital experience. The site invites fans to watch full episodes and clips of every “South Park” episode. Southparkstudios.com also features behind-the-scenes information from all 12 seasons allowing users to see all their favorite “South Park” moments, comment on them and share them with friends.
Launched in 1997, “South Park,” now in its 13th season, remains the highest-rated series on COMEDY CENTRAL. “South Park” repeats Wednesdays at 12:00 a.m., Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. and Sundays at 10:00 p.m., 11:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. (all times ET/PT).
