SONGWRITER

SONGWRITER REVIEWED

“Songwriter” is why I could never get into Alan Rudolph. The guy is an al dente director that makes a mess of average stories to make something avant-garde. Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson work their asses off to work past it. It’s just that nothing ever comes from these two bouncing off each other and Richard C. Sarafian getting evil. But, Kristofferson got an Oscar nom for his score to the movie.

This movie is a rather slight footnote in the history of 80s cinema. Pick it up if you’re curious.
