ABC Daytime’s “One Life to Live” welcomes critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata on THURSDAY, APRIL 2. Ms. Yamagata, who is currently on the spring leg of her tour, will perform the hauntingly beautiful single “Elephants” from her second album, “Elephants…Teeth Sinking into Heart” (released on Warner Bros. Records October 2008). The album debuted on iTunes at No.1 on the pop chart and No. 6 on the main chart.

“We first became aware of Rachael’s enormous talent when we used her song ‘I’ll Find a Way’ in 2005,” said executive producer Frank Valentini. “Her soulful storytelling through her music, combined with the emotional journeys of our characters, create the perfect marriage. “

Ms. Yamagata will take the stage at Llanview’s local nightclub, Capricorn, where such characters as Dorian (Robin Strasser), Todd (Trevor St. John) and Tea (Florencia Lozano) have gathered. Ms. Yamagata joins an impressive list of recording artists to appear on “One Life to Live” that includes recent appearances by The Plain White T’s and Puddle Of Mudd. The list also includes a two-day appearance by Snoop Dogg, two appearances by eight-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige and artists such as Timbaland with Keri Hilson and One Republic, Nelly Furtado, Lifehouse, Simply Red, Chris Botti and Erykah Badu.

“Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart” is a two part album: the first ‘Elephants” includes nine tracks that are darker and more vulnerable than the five gritty, guitar-driven rock songs on “Teeth Sinking Into Heart.” The two parts are beautifully underscored by Ms. Yamagata’s husky alto voice and soulful piano playing evoking the heartbreak and challenges of relationships. Of the two CDs’ 15 tracks, 12 were produced by the Nebraska-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Mike Mogis, known for his work with Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley. Two tracks, “What If I Leave” and “Horizon,” were produced by John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band), who also produced her debut album, “Happenstance” (released in 2004). The album also features guest appearances by singer-songwriters Ray Lamontagne and Azure Ray’s Maria Taylor. For more information on Ms. Yamagata’s tour dates, please visit
