SEE THE KEEPERS: INSIDE THE ZOO

SEE THE KEEPERS REVIEWED

“See The Keepers” is a stunning documentary about what it takes to work at a Zoo. I’ve known a few Zoo workers who have the intensity of tweakers. It’s amazing to see people so dedicated to saving animals and giving them a better life. But, there’s also a bizarre subculture that rarely gets acknowledged. Don’t worry, it’s not furries at the Zoo.

While the documentary uses Kofi the Giraffe as a means to focus the documentary, the zookeepers are the focus. In terms of subculture, I have to say it’s not normal for people to care this much. So many of these keepers put the animals above themselves. Even the ones that might kill them. I rarely admire people, but this documentary won me over. Next time I travel through Memphis, I need to stop by the Zoo.
