THE PLOT THUS FAR
From the creators of Grey’s Anatomy, comes the fifth season of ABC’s sexy, medical drama, Private Practice. Addison and her Oceanside Wellness family are faced with new challenges as unexpected people enter and complicate their lives. From a sexy new doctor to an illegitimate son, the lives and loves of these doctors are put to the test.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Private Practice” enters its fifth season by staying true to the characters that it has cultivated around Addison. This brave portrayal of women in the medical field should be applauded and supported by fans of all that is Shonda. Can I tell you the truth? It’s a terrible show. Some long-time fans have said that it belongs firmly in the realm of comedy and I agree.
The show plays like a really angry drunk chick tried to emasculate any capable male while reverting the female characters to ten years younger than their age. Half of the show should be called What The Hell is Up with Violet? But, let’s take a step back. The aggressive pandering to women demanding babies met with the weakest male stars outside of Michael Cera and David Schwimmer produces a bizarre production. What can we do with it? Nothing, but laugh.
The DVD comes with deleted scenes, bloopers and a featurette. The A/V Quality is pretty sharp with a dynamic Dolby 5.1 track. The standard definition transfer works for what it is. However, I can’t call it that amazing. It’s still worth a purchase to the few remaining fans of the show.
