THE PLOT THUS FAR

W
HAT WE THOUGHT

When the film premiered in 2009  on ABC, we were asked to cover it here at the site. Given our  multiple site upgrades and changes, the original review is probably sitting in a file folder lost forever to our Raiders of the Lost Ark style warehouse. The primary thing I remember enjoying about the film is that there is no attempt at explaining Santa’s abilities with special engines or “Clausometers,” it shows the realistic and humorous backline of Santa’s huge operation.

The film contains a great deal of technological references with analogues of NASA and naval terminology and procedures, but it doesn’t take the magic out of Santa. There is no attempt at explaining Santa’s abilities with special engines or “Clausometers,” it shows the realistic and humorous backline of Santa’s huge operation. Like any great Christmas movie it has a perfectly Christmas-spirit ending that makes you feel more like a perfect you.

The DVD comes with some bonus cartoons and Kringle Academy filler. The A/V Quality is about what you can expect for a generic animation shot in standard definition. The Dolby 5.1 track is a surround mix that serves all audio in the front channels. If you’re looking for other special features, you will find the basic cartoons and featurettes. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
