PERFECT MAN, A

APERFECTMANdvdbox

FROM THE BACK OF THE BOX:

A womanizing husband inadvertently falls back in love with his wife over the phone when she pretends to be another woman.

FROM THE BACK OF MY BRAIN:

“A Perfect Man” is a reverse love story about a guy that sort of cheats and gets his wife back. Let that be a lesson to all women out there that don’t how to reach their man. Hop on that phone and pretend to be someone else until they can stand your bloated ass. If movies have taught me anything, any bit of subterfuge used in relationships will never blow up in your face. People love having their emotions toyed with and no one ever forces any repercussions to be experienced.

Liev Schreiber is a strong lead, however he doesn’t have much to do here. While he’s kicking eight shades of ass on “Ray Donovan”, he’s being forced into a rather creepy role here. Why do we have to watch him play a douchebag like this? This is the kind of film that dumb people call a film for the modern age. These same people are scared of the Twitter and they don’t understand why the Grindr folk keep hanging out in their bookstore parking lots. I don’t mean to sound like a dick, but this is the kind of lazy filmmaking that puts viewers off better films about similar matters. Hell, I’m going to be pissed if I found out that this movie ended up making more money than “Enough Said”.

The DVD comes with a trailer as the special feature. The A/V Quality is pretty strong. The standard definition transfer shows great range for a quiet drama. However, the Dolby 5.1 track had almost no back channel action. In the end, I’d recommend a rental.
