PABLO FRANCISCO: THEY PUT IT OUT THERE

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Pablo Francisco, one of the most popular comedians worldwide is back with his all new comedy concert, They Put It Out There. Following the enormous success of his last stand-up special, Ouch!, Pablo once again weaves together his arsenal of characters, spontaneous outbursts and clever insights to create a stand-up show that has the non-stop energy of a jazz riff.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“MADtv” co-star, impressionist and stand-up comic Pablo Francisco has ‘em rolling in the aisles in this hour-long performance. This hilarious performance blends original characters, out-of-the-blue observations and commentary on modern life.

If you’re familiar with Francisco, you’ll know what to expect. I was never a big “Mad TV” fan, so most of his material new to me. It’s just that the performance wasn’t that strong or different than the other 800 comedians filling afternoon space on Comedy Central. The guy works in a Mencia meets Dane Cook vibe, as his jokes seem to be more story-oriented. I normally like that, but it was doing anything for me here.

The DVD comes with infomercial outtakes as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is on par with standard live performances on standard definition. The Dolby Surround mix is a little flat, but it’s broadcast quality.  I wish the transfer was a little cleaner, as the entire background seems to be full of jaggies. It’s not that big of a deal. In the end, I’d recommend a rental.
