OCTOBER BABY

THE PLOT THUS FAR

A college freshman’s world is rocked when she learns she is the adopted survivor of an attempted abortion.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“October Baby” is a serious take on what “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” opened their third season mocking with great disdain. This movie is designed to target a certain section of the population. The film plays like a poorly scripted exploitation drama designed to hit all the highpoints of the Neo Con Evangelical movement. Evil women are having abortions everywhere and the children pay for it years later! Then, they run off to hide in New Orleans after giving their babies up for adoption. THE SHAME! THE SHAME OF IT ALL!

There were two times that our main character and obvious love interest had run-ins with the police, first illegal parking and the second breaking-and-entering and both times told both police officers what she was trying to accomplish. I know this is a movie but in reality I find that hard to believe that the police would really let them off the hook in either situation and I find even harder to believe that an officer would also provide information about prior cases he had dealt with regarding one of the workers of an abortion clinic.

The Blu-Ray comes with a commentary, deleted scenes, featurettes and music video. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is pretty dynamic without too much wasted range. The 1080p transfer is pretty strong, as it appears to be a digital to digital transfer. That being said, it’s rough to see so much quality wasted on a nothing movie. In the end, I’d only recommend a purchase to your weirdo religious family members.
