LETHAL LADIES COLLECTION VOLUME 2

THE PLOT THUS FAR

THE ARENA

Female gladiators fight to the death. Inspired by the story of Spartacus, follow the adventures of a bevy of slave girls who, upon finding themselves thrust into the gladiator ring, mount a vicious rebellion to fight their way to freedom.

FLY ME

Stewardesses battle kung fu killers.

COVER GIRL MODELS

A fashion photography assignment teams three American models and inadvertently pitches them into the mystery and danger of international espionage, when an invaluable roll of microfilm secreted into one of the girls’ fashion gowns, draws them into the violence and intrigue of a spy-vs-counterspy conspiracy.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Abducted from their homelands and enslaved by Romans, two young women, the Nubian Mamawi (Pam Grier) and Bodicia (Margaret Markov) from the Brittany, are, along with other female slaves purchased by the Roman owner of an arena, where they are to do domestic work and serve as mistresses/sex slaves to the gladiators. After a fight at the dinner table, however, one of their unscrupulous slaveholders suggests to have the women fight for their lives in the arena, in order to offer something fresh to the blood-thirsty audiences.

Toby is a newbie going on her first overseas trip. She tries dating a doctor she met on the flight, however her overprotective mother tags along and runs interference every chance she gets. Andrea searches Hong Kong, Tokyo and Manila for her boyfriend and is constantly tailed by kung-fu thugs. Sherry is kidnapped after a yacht party and held captive for a prostitution ring. Everything comes together in a quick runtime that barely goes over an hour with numerous fun moments sprinkled throughout.

“Cover Girl Models” is almost the same film as “Fly Me”. However, “Cover Girl Models” has a lot more pseudo sexual assault in it. The DVD comes with a commentary, featurette and promo spots for “The Arena”. “Cover Girl Models” and “Fly Me” don’t get any special features. Most of “The Arena” materials were ported over from the Roger Corman Collection. The A/V Quality is as strong as can be expected for films of this age. I’d recommend a purchase only to Corman fans.
