LEMON

LEMON REVIEWED

“Lemon” is a three-act movie about a living pity party trying to get his groove back. Husband-wife creative team Brett Gelman and Janicza Bravo created the film, but I’m still not sure of the point. Judy Greer does some great early work as the main guy’s blind girlfriend. The point when she finally develops the self-respect to leave him was handled well. It’s just that everything else feels like a slow build-up to how much pathetic cringe you can endure. The cast is strong and Gelman milks every ounce of cringe comedy. I just kept waiting for some big thing to tie it all together. I didn’t love the movie, but I’d watch it again.
