THE AV INTERVIEW: JUJU CHAN (SAVAGE DOG)

ANDERSONVISION

How would you define your fighting style?

JUJU CHAN

Taekwon-Do, Mauy Thai style. Speciallizing in kicks and jump kicks.

AV

One of our literary contributors wanted to know if you were planning on writing a new book.

JC

Yes, I have a few ideas for my new book. One of the ideas on the top of my list is a book on self defense for women.

AV

Are you going to release any new music? Our readership is pretty into Asian pop.

JC

At this moment, I am focusing on my acting career, so no plans for releasing a new song or album. However, I would love to be in a musical film, where I can sing, dance, act and even throw in some martial arts.

AV

How do you feel being compared to Michelle Yeoh?

JC

To me, it’s an honor to be given such a comparison, and it’s an extra force that motivates me to continue improving my skills and performances. But of cause to me, I am totally focusing on being JUJU CHAN in the action film world.

AV

What is it like to be really excellent at using Nunchakus?

JC

Basically nunchakus become your 2nd instinct, it will flow according to your movement with power and rhythm. I really love using them, and I actually kinda miss them when I’m away in places where I can’t bring them along.

AV

Who do you enjoy watching in Muay Thai?

JC

Buakaw Banchamek, Khayal Dzhaniev, Singdam Kiatmoo9.

AV

Say something about your latest film SAVAGE DOG. Talk a little bit about shooting the film and tell us about your character.

JC

Savage Dog is a full on action film with an engaging story set in Indochina, in 1959. I play Isabelle in this film, the love interest of Scott Adkin’s character, Martin. She is the stronger willed of Martin and her. Isabelle is an interesting character, strong, resilient, but most of all she is a believer in the good within the souls of men.

Isabelle is an optimist, focused, and is determined to win over and influence the man she believes to be her father (Steiner, played by Vladimir Kulich). Even though every sign on earth points to him being a terrible person, Isabelle is set on proving otherwise.

In movie terms she is innocent, and seemingly naive, but she is no fool. Her obvious upbringing in the midst of war makes her quite complex. She is a fighter, except that her fighting is done by her patience.
