THE PLOT THUS FAR
Bakugan is the story of Dan and his friends as they battle their Bakugan monsters to save the parallel universe of Vestroia and ultimately the Earth from destruction. What these young warriors initially thought was just a game has become a race to restore peace throughout the universe!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
Dan, the main character, is obsessed with becoming the top-ranked Bakugan player and often ignores his parents and teachers in favor of playing. Female characters tend to have minor roles and seem to be there mainly to support Dan. Some of the main Bakugan creatures are actually from another dimension and are engaged in an epic battle between good and evil. But, the show has moved past him as we get into the fourth rung of episodes.
As Hal-G releases 5th Paladins, Naga is slowly recovering. All seems hopeless until the Brawlers send their Bakugan to aid a wounded Drago. They destroy the 5th Paladins as Naga absorbs the 5th Paladins' energies. With the last of his power, Drago fires a brilliant burst of light that Naga attempts to absorb. The Bakugan combine their power with Drago's and it proves too much for Naga, who overloads, unable to control the power and finally explodes, destroying Naga in the process. The Silent Core then merges with Drago. Now the time has come, and unfortunately all great things must eventually come to an end. After an emotional goodbye, a parting so emotional it brings tears to everyone's face, the Brawlers and the Bakugan part ways as a portal opens, and the Brawlers throw their Bakugan one last time. The Brawlers' Bakugan, along with the rest of the Bakugan on Earth enter the portal and return to Vestroia.
Now, that everyone and their uncle is talking Bakugan, the show is actually getting worse, which is something I had thought impossible. Now, instead of having a show centered on five or six annoying pre-teens with squawky voices, we now have a show centered on five or six annoying pre-teens with squawky voices that each have a tiny, sphere-shaped squawky voiced Bakugan to quip and chime in verbal puns. The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is rather sharp for recent broadcast. Still, this is the cloest that Bakugan fans will come to receiving a full season set. Enjoy having a Region 1 release arrive that's rather uncut. It's a rental.
