INCIDENT IN AN ALLEY

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Based on a short story by Rod Serling (“The Twilight Zone”), a cop “mistakenly” kills a 14-year-old boy during a robbery. Although acquitted for the shooting, the cop is haunted by his crime.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

After fatally shooting a fleeing teenager, who apparently did nothing wrong, a disgraced policeman fights manslaughter charges, loses his reputation within the force and desperately launches an investigation to clear his name. Adapted from a short story by Rod Serling, this fast-paced crime drama keeps viewers guessing with complicated dilemmas and surprising developments.

Warfield goes on trial and is found not guilty. He returns to the job and sets about clearing his name. The story is told from several different points of view. The dead boy’s mother, the officer, his wife, the other cops and the press. Some of the cops back him while others think he is guilty. Warfield has bouts of inner turmoil as doubts enter his mind that maybe the boy’s death is his fault.

The DVD comes with no special features. But, you still get the same level of commitment from the MGM Archive towards preserving original aspect ratio on DVD-R discs. The audio is supportive, but it stays close to the original audio channels. I love this stuff and I wanted to watch more. This is a must-buy.
