THE PLOT THUS FAR
Re-purposed classic Disney cartoons, made to look like wild adventures caught on tape.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
Disney has seen fit to re-release classic animation shorts in an edited format. New musical cues and new voice recordings have been layered into classic cartoons that several fans would’ve rather had seen in proper Collector’s Edition. The result is a two-disc release that makes DTV look like cutting edge television. Do you even remember DTV? It was the Disney Channel’s attempt at making music video filler for the 1980s broadcasts they used to pump out around the clock. They would air in between episodes of “Danger Bay” and “The Edison Twins”.
The resulting release is called “Have a Laugh” and it’s an hour’s worth of re-edited material dumped back onto the market. Seeing as how it’s already on its third and fourth volumes, somebody has to be buying these releases. I don’t know who is digging the releases, but it’s not me. It shouldn’t be this hard to like classic Disney cartoons, but the Mouse House has seemed to go out of its way to ruin what should be an easy hit out of the park. Oh well, try to think of the good times.
