GREEN RIVER ORDINANCE – OUT OF MY HANDS

THE STORY SO FAR:

In the mundane world of local law, a Green River Ordinance prohibits door-to-door sales without a homeowner’s prior permission. Fortunately, the band Green River Ordinance needn’t rely on such pedestrian peddling to sell its wares-its catchy anthems have drawn listeners on their own. The only door-to-door action is purely word of mouth, as one fan tells another what they’ve found.

THE CRITICISM

The band’s indie debut, The Beauty of Letting Go, helped the boys earn Artist of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2006 Forth Worth Music Awards. We have not confirmed if purchase of Out of My Hands includes 10-gallon hat.

The band’s major label debut works as a fresh shot in the arm of a dying rock presence on Top 40 Radio. They are a bunch of young guys that know that melody overcomes swagger any day of the week. Listen to the tracks “Out of My Hands” or “Sleep It Off”. The arrangements suggest the melodic give and take of the 70s acoustic rockers.

The album is a forty minute blast from the past that I find myself putting on replay in the ol’ IPOD. Will I keep blasting the hell out of this disc for the next month or so? Probably not, but it’s catchy. Sometimes, a good hook can carry you all the way.

I recommend checking out their two previously released indie albums. More info can be found at their MySpace page. This band is a keeper and one to look out for in 2009.
