GIRL FROM THE BROTHEL, THE

THE GIRL FROM THE BROTHEL REVIEWED

“The Girl From The Brothel” is pretty crazy. A female drug addict decides to surprise her husband in Cambodia. He’s there for work and she just wants to have a nice surprise visit. The problem with that is her husband is servicing a Middle School aged prostitute. What’s a drugged out gal to do with an 11 year old hooker and a wandering husband? That’s what this film asks its audience.

Somewhere between vintage TV movie dramatics and World Cinema liberty, this film finds its footing. The majority of the movie is the addict and youthful prostitute escaping Asia for the comforts of France. Honestly, this feels like it could’ve been a John Waters movie at points. If the film seems familiar, it was released under another time back in 2012. I never heard of it until now, but the appeal of the flick grows on me with each viewing. Check it out if you have the time.
