FIFTY SHADES DARKER: UNRATED EDITION

FIFTY SHADES DARKER: UNRATED REVIEWED

“Fifty Shades Darker” is the second leg of this modern Star Wars trilogy. What? Yeah, it’s a popular film franchise that apes popular films and then adds in a bit of kink. Watch how Leia macks on Luke on Hoth and in the passenger bay on the Falcon. You know what I’m talking about, it’s right after they rescue him on Bespin. For being the son of Space Jesus, Luke didn’t want to know the truth about Leia. So, what about the popular S&M lite film arriving today?

Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are back at it. Theater ushers around the world spent this past February hating their jobs and now we get this released timed for Mother’s Day. Are there creepy mother-son sex angles in it? Yeah, if you count Kim Basinger’s maternal entry rapist role that brought Christian Grey into the life. I mean, it’s not like Grey didn’t start life as an adopted kid liberated from a ghetto existence in Detroit. So many older women enjoying these stories tend to overlook the NAMBLA style origins of Grey’s particular kinks.

But, this is a film about Christian and Anastasia going closer as a couple. They fight through old exs, psychos and lingering mental hang-ups to become closer as a unit. While I hope that Dakota Johnson will eventually develop into a quality actress, I’d be wrong if I didn’t comment on Johnson’s ability to hold up key scenes. She plays the role well, but that’s not necessarily praising her acting. Take that for what you will and pick up a bundle of copies this Holiday weekend. The women in your life will act like they don’t want this, but they want this.
