ELENA OF AVALOR: REALM OF THE JAQUINS REVIEWED
“Elena of Avalor: Realm of the Jaquins” finds Elena soaring into Vallestrella. While in this mystical kingdom, she meets the Jaquins. Elena feels that she’s learned everything she needs to know to rule her kingdom. However, the Jaquins challenge this notion, as she’s just a kid. That’s when Elena takes the time to learn from a much more distinguished ruler as they bounce through fairies, talking animals and Cheech Marin showing them the way.
I’m not familiar with the show and my kid has a passing interest in it. What caught be my surprise is that while it tackles very little kids, it brings heavy serialization in a way. You have to understand continuity and get an emotional sense of what’s going on from scene-to-scene. Yet, I saw a 4 year old hang with it and she doesn’t understand why The Simpsons don’t change their clothes from episode-to-episode. Also, did I hear Jane Fonda as one of the characters?
From what I learned, this is supposed to be the end of Season 1. I see a ton of setup for what’s coming next, but I feel like I’ll need Wikipedia to catch me up on what has come before.
