DRAWN TOGETHER: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION

DRAWN TOGETHER: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION REVIEWED

The Complete Collection splits focus between the TV series and the movie. While the show only ran for 3 seasons, it grew on me over time. Eventually, it founds its footing while going for jokes that were far beyond South Park. The only catch was that it took two rough seasons to get there. Had they picked up the pace faster, they might still be on the air. But, that’s the nature of the beast.

The movie is a decent attempt to rebirth one of Comedy Central’s most underrated offerings. But, it lacks the timing and well-crafted satire of Seasons 2 and 3. I’ll admit it, the first season of the show was a mis-direct piece of crap. Yet, the showrunners got enough time to actually learn how to play the characters off each other. They also learned that they work better when they’re vulgar. The film contains even more over the top jokes and swearing simply because it is a direct to DVD film and doesn’t have to worry about network censorship. The show definitely had these kinds of jokes but they were tame considered to the things in here.
