DRAWING WITH MARK: GOOD TO GROW and LIFE ON THE FARM

DRAWINGWITHMARKfarm

FROM THE BACK OF THE BOX:

Join professional illustrator Mark Marderosian on a creative journey as we discover the basic fun of learning to draw! `Drawing With Mark` is a Parents’ Choice Award winning series that helps kids of all ages unlock their creativity. The DVD includes two 30 minute episodes: `Life on the Farm’ sees Mark and the gang visit a real farm with animals and we learn to draw a barn and a cute pig. `Good To Grow` sees Mark return to the farm and we learn to draw a real tractor and sunflowers.

FROM THE BACK OF MY BRAIN:

“Drawing with Mark” offers one basic takeaway. Do more than sit there and watch a guy paint.  Sure, Mark visits particular environments related to the disc’s lesson, but he provides a proper context for kids to absorb it. Whether you’re young or old, Mark is a teacher and he wants you to pick up on what works and what doesn’t. Too often, modern kids entertainment wants to focus on what makes you feel good. I truly appreciate something that sits a kid down and forces them to learn a talent.

Mark Marderosian has truly impressed me in a short amount of time. When I first reviewed the last batch of Drawing with Mark discs, I didn’t expect to be blown away. However, I’m seeing something special emerge in the man’s art. It’s not just enough to create a realm for kids, you have to provide a reason why. Mark does that in spades.

The DVD comes with a booklet and an additional art lesson. While the main material is an hour long, it sets up the young artist on a quest to learn more. I love stuff like this, so I’m willing to give a pass to the middlin’ A/V Quality. If you pick up this release, comment below with jpegs of your art. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
