CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE COMPLETE NINTH SEASON REVIEWED
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” underwhelmed me with Season 9. That’s not to say it was bad. Less than stellar Curb is still better than the best season of Seinfeld. It’s just that the Fatwa musical concept was a bit much to undertake. What made it worse was the excessive reliance on bit roles and supporting celebrities that distracted from the story. The stuff with Lin-Manuel Miranda was astonishing. It’s just that everything else was a bit much.
Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman continue to shine, but they don’t register the same way as usual. The same can even be said for JB Smoove. With such an increased focus on Larry David bringing down a fatwa upon himself, you expected to see more characters chime in this year. None of that happened in the same vein of past seasons. Casey Wilson shines in a supporting role as a plus-sized model. By the way, where in the world does Casey Wilson qualify as a plus-sized model? Aidy Bryant would’ve been more believable, but Wilson kills in the role. Come for Nick Swardson low-key killing it and stay for the paintball shot to the throat.

The Plot Thus Far
In Season 9, Larry has a big idea that elicits promising feedback, until a string of Larry-esque missteps undermines the plan.
