CRASHING: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON

CRASHING: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON REVIEWED

“Crashing” impressed the hell out of me. That’s quite a feat, since I hated Holmes’ show on TBS. The dude was doing a killer Professor X impression and I couldn’t get onboard. But, there’s something about “Crashing” that humanizes Pete Holmes. A lot of that has to do with its semi-autobiographical nature and killer list of guest comics. Long-time readers know that I’m a huge Artie Lange fan and anything that gives Lange work is amazing.

Lange and Miller serve as the rougher comic voices for Holmes after the events of the pilot. What happened? Well, Holmes found his wife cheating on him and he ended up losing his sense of a normal life. While crashing on couches, Holmes decided to switch from trying to be a Pastor to trying to be a comic. Most of the first season’s eight episodes are focused on watching Holmes fail. Most HBO viewers know that the second season is coming soon, so hopefully things turn around.

I’m just not sure if I don’t want to watch the guy suffer a little longer. Losers are funny, when it’s not you. Check out the show.
